Easy Corn Patties/ Cutlet/ Tikki (in Air- fryer )

Corn patties/ cutlet or Tikki is delicious crispy patties made with sweet corn kernels and mashed potatoes. It is the best snack, appetizer or sides to munch at any time.

Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • cup sweet corn kernels ( American sweetcorn )
  • 5 numbers potato ( medium sized )
  • 2 onion ( medium sized )
  • 5 numbers green chillies
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • salt ( to taste )
  • 3 teaspoon vegetable oil

For the slurry

  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoon corn flour
  • 1 teaspoon pepper powder ( freshly crushed )
  • salt ( to taste )

Instructions
 

  • Boil medium-sized potatoes in a pressure cooker for eight to ten minutes. Drain water, and peel the skin and keep it aside.
  • Now mash the potatoes with a potato masher or fork. Make sure it is mashed well without any lumps.
  • To the potatoes, add sweet corn kernels, onions, green chilies, fresh coriander or cilantro leaves (finely chopped), and salt to taste.
  • Mix the vegetables with a clean hand and check salt. It is where you can adjust the salt.
  • Make even-sized round balls with the patty mixture. Mix all-purpose flour, cornflour, pepper, and salt with water and make it into a slurry mixture, as shown in the picture. Also, spread bread crumbs on a plate and ready with the preparation.
  • Flatten the corn patty and dip into the slurry, and gently dab bread crumbs as shown.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 180* C for five minutes. Then place the patties as shown without crowding them. Smear oil with a silicon brush and air fry for ten minutes.
  • Flip the other side and again smear oil. Air fry for ten more minutes until the patties turn golden in colour.
  • The crispy outer layer and soft flavourful inside easy corn patties/ cutlet/ Tikki are ready to devour as it is or can have with chutneys.
  • I prefer to have with mayonnaise and tomato ketchup. Serve it as a starter or appetizer for parties or an evening snack to munch. Healthy air-fried corn patties are perfect for all ages to indulge without guilt.

Notes

You can use the regular corn in the place of sweet corn. Either way is good, but the light sweet taste will be missing in the patties.
Chilli powder or pepper powder is the perfect swap for green chilies.
For the slurry for the patties, you can opt for chickpea flour, rice flour, or buckwheat flour. Using flour is purely your option.
If you don’t have breadcrumbs, do not worry. You can use semolina, flattened rice ( poha ), or even crushed graham crackers. When using graham crackers, make sure to add less salt to the patties.
