Hello and Welcome to Plate to Palate!
My name is Jayanthy Asokan, but my friends call me Jay. I come from Tamil Nadu, India, and have lived in various places in Tamil Nadu and its neighbouring state, Andhra Pradesh.
Growing up, I cooked with my mom and learned some of my family’s traditional heirloom recipes. I’m proud to share these unique comfort food recipes with you.
Sometimes I get inspired by other recipes and try them out. I love French desserts and have a great passion for baking. I started this site to feature my Indian and International home cooking, Vegan recipes, and baking ideas.
I’m married and a mother of a married son who lives on the other side of the planet. He’s my lifeline, an ardent fan, and critic of my cooking and baking experiments. We bake together whenever time permits. I’m proud that my son is now well-trained to cook for his wife.
I am grateful for my husband’s support in starting this blog (plate to palate). My friends provide valuable feedback on my recipes and food photography, helping me improve my skills. The encouragement of my loved ones is what inspired me to create this website.
In addition to cooking and baking, I love spending time with the challenged/special needs members of a nearby organization, listening to music, watching movies, crafting Tanjore paintings, traveling around, and networking with friends and relatives.
If you like my recipes, please try them out, and leave your comments and feedback, which means a lot to me. Also, please share your signature recipes with me. I would love to try them out.
Thank you so much for stopping by !
Happy Cooking and Baking,
Jayanthy Asokan
