Caramel Panna Cotta is a Chilled Italian Dessert popular throughout Italy, easy to make with cream, sugar, vanilla, and gelatin. It is also called “Cooked Cream” and can use any natural or artificial flavour.
It is a fancy dessert by it’s look and every spoonful of creamy textured custard of Panna Cotta perfectly matches any toppings like crunchy Praline,Berry Coulis and Fresh fruits . Panna Cotta can be made with Cream ,Whole fat milk ,Yogurt, Almond milk ,Coconut milk etc.
I’am an ardent fan of Italian and French Dessert. I have tried many flavours of Panna Cotta with different flavours with fresh fruits ,Berry sauce as a topping but my love for Caramel flavour urged to give a try for Salted Caramel Panna Cotta with crunchy Praline. I would say this is one of the Best flavour and everyone should try at least once. The process of Cooking is so simple and less time consuming with minimal ingredients . Chilling time needs some hours so if you host a party Panna Cotta can be made in advance and garnish before serving. No doubt everyone would love this Dessert and would go for second serving.
Lets see how to prepare Caramel panna cotta with step by step preparation.
Dissolve gelatin in 100 ml warm milk and keep it aside.
Boil 300 ml milk on a medium heat. Add vanilla extract to it and mix well and keep it aside.
In a heavy bottomed pan add sugar (100 gms) with 1 tablespoon of water. Let it melt on a medium flame until it becomes dark amber colour. Do not stir. If sugar forms lumps,swirl the pan.
Now add the warm milk mixture to the caramel and stir continuously(solidified caramel will melt again). Add a pinch of salt to the caramel mixture.
Add dissolved gelatin and mix well. The caramel mixture will start to thicken.
Switch off the flame and strain the caramel mixture. Transfer the strained caramel mixture to desired bowl or glasses and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight..
How to make Praline?
In a pan add 1 tablespoon water to the sugar and let it melt on medium heat. Sugar starts to melt and change to amber colour,add in chopped nuts and mix thoroughly until is evenly coat..Now transfer on to an aluminium foil and spread evenly and let it cool completely . Powder the Praline using a rolling pin and it is ready to garnish.
Sprinkle the Praline over the set Panna Cotta before serving. Salted caramel Panna cotta topped with Praline is enriched with healthy, wholesome full fat milk and healthy Nuts and it is ready to serve.
