Follow the below easy step by step preparation of the base and sauce preparation and I’m sure you don’t go for store bought base or expensive pizza from Fast food restaurant.
How to prepare Homemade Pizza Base
The base of the pizza is made with all purpose flour, yeast, sugar, salt, oil and water. Health freaks can try with whole wheat flour or 1:1 ratio of both the flour. Mixing of the dough ingredients and kneading takes only 10 to 15 minutes.
Unlike bread recipes, pizza dough needs one proofing and it hardly needs 30 minutes for the base preparation . When it is done ,punch the dough to deflate the air.
Divide the dough into two equal halves and stretch the dough slightly thick flat rounds. I prefer slightly thick as traditional Italian pizza. You can stretch the dough thin to get thin crust pizza or as per your wish.
Now the main Pizza base is ready. Isn’t it simple? Lets see how to prepare Tomato sauce?
How to prepare Tomato Sauce for Homemade Pizza
Boil some red tomatoes for 4 to 5 minutes and let it cool. Peel off the skin and grind it into puree. Boil the tomato puree with tomato ketchup, chilli sauce and Italian herbs and spices for few minutes.
When the sauce starts to thicken switch off the flame .You can prepare this sauce and store it in fridge for months . When, you want to make pizza either with veggies or meat, this is the base sauce in which, you can add Italian herb and spices as you wish. The tomato sauce for homemade pizza from scratch is ready.
Lets jump to the step by step preparation of making Homemade Pizza from scratch.
Gather all the ingredients for making Pizza dough. Bloom yeast with ¾ cup lukewarm water and sugar.
Add salt ,oil and yeast sugar mixture to the flour.
Now gently mix until it is well combined.
Sprinkle some flour on to the kitchen counter and knead the dough for five minutes. Do not worry if the dough is little wet .
Just add little flour but don’t take off too much moisture from the dough.
Place the dough in a well greased bowl for atleast half an hour or until it double its size.
Meanwhile lets prepare Tomato sauce .Boil tomatoes briefly and peel the skin and blend in a blender or mixer grinder to a puree consistency. Using a filter ,extract the tomato puree separating seeds .In a wide pan add tomato puree on low medium heat.
To the tomato puree add tomato ketchup, chilli sauce, sweet chilli sauce, oregano and chilli flakes and let it boil for few minutes .Stir occasionally to prevent burning. Wait till the tomato puree thickens. Tomato sauce is ready to spread on to the Pizza Base.
When dough is well risen knead it again for a minute.
Divide the dough into two equal parts.
Stretch the dough according to your pan size. I stretch the dough not too thin or thick..
Spread the tomato sauce in a circular motion so that it evenly spread all over the pizza base.
Arrange cheese slices.
Add bell peppers ,cherry tomatoes ,basil and finally place mozzarella bits all over .
Pre heat oven to 240°C and bake for 13 to 15 minutes or until cheese starts to melt . Once done, take out the baking tray and slice the pizza. Serve hot and sprinkle oregano and chilli flakes as per your taste.

Do not over proof the dough.
Use Mozzarella cheese for perfect stringy cheesy pizza.
You can also use parmesan cheese,cheddar cheese etc in combination of Mozzarella .
When preparing Tomato sauce ,you can add any herbs according to your palate.
You can use veggies like Broccoli, cauliflower,mushroom,etc. Try to be innovative .Sky is the limit.
Likewise ,you can add any meat as per your taste.

- 2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast

- 15 cherry tomatoes
- basil ( fistful )
- 6 cheese slice
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese ( individuals preference )
