Egg Fried Rice is a simple, easy and quick dish made under 15 minutes with the precooked rice. This dish is stir-fried in a wok or frying pan or any deep thick bottomed pan. Fried rice is a Chinese dish in which you can add egg, vegetables, meat or seafood. Here in this recipe, I have used eggs, onions and tossed up with only pepper powder and salt.

Egg Fried Rice

Normally, in Chinese fried rice, sauces like soy sauce, green chilli sauce, Tomato sauce and Ajjinomotto (Mono sodium Glutamate) is essential. In this recipe, there is no addition of any sauces or ajjinomotto. You can still make this dish so flavorful, sumptuous with limited ingredient and make egg fried perfect for all ages.

Variations in Fried Rice

  • You can make Vegetable fried rice
  • Chicken fried rice
  • Kheema(Minced meat) fried rice
  • Any seafood fried rice

Cooking rice for the egg fried rice

To make any fried rice, the rice should be cooked in the perfect consistency. It should not be mushy neither under cooked. Cook the rice till al dente as we cook pasta. Always remember to add half a teaspoon of oil when cooking rice. This helps the grains get separate while cooking. Also precooked leftover rice is also perfect for making this egg fried in a jiffy.

Let’s see how to prepare egg fried rice in step by step preparation

Pressure-cook rice for 2 whistles or cook as per your preference like either boiling the rice or in Instant pot. Do not cook the rice mushy or under cook. Keep the cooked rice aside. Meanwhile, in a thick, wide pan, add 2 tablespoons of oil on a medium heat. To it add cloves, a small piece of cinnamon and finely sliced onions and saute well.

Meanwhile, in a separate bowl crack open five eggs and add freshly ground pepper powder and salt to taste. Beat well until everything is mixed well.

Saute onions until turn golden brown. Now add beaten egg mixture to the fried onions.

Scramble the egg into big pieces and let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes.

Add precooked rice, freshly ground pepper powder and salt to the scrambled egg mixture and mix well. Toss the rice well until it is evenly mixed.

It is done! Simple, easy, quick Egg fried Rice is ready within few minutes with just few readily available ingredients in your pantry.

Garnish it with fresh coriander leaves and serve it with Tomato ketchup or with any vegetable curry as per your palates taste.
