Whipping up a batch of blueberry chocolate chip muffins is a breeze and makes for a delicious treat that kids can enjoy during their holiday break or as a breakfast or brunch option. This recipe is definitely worth trying and is sure to be a hit with everyone who tastes it.

These muffins are a delicious combination of bursting citrusy blueberry flavor and rich, gooey chocolate chips. The blend of tartness and sweetness makes for a delightful taste that is sure to satisfy any palate.

  • oil ( neutral )
  • baking powder
  • baking powder
  • salt
  • vanilla extract
  • blueberry
  • semi-sweet chocolate chip
  • milk

Step-by-step preparation

Add sugar to a mixing bowl.

Mix the sugar and oil thoroughly. An electric hand beater was not used, but you can choose to use one if it is more comfortable for you.

Sift all the dry ingredients.

Use a spatula to mix the dry ingredients. Gradually pour in the milk and thoroughly whisk until well combined.

Add vanilla extract to the muffin batter.

To finish, incorporate blueberries and chocolate chips into the muffin mixture.

Combine the blueberries and chocolate chips with the muffin batter. At the same time, make sure to preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

To make blueberry chocolate muffins, fill cup liners or silicon moulds with the batter and add a generous amount of chocolate chips and blueberries on top.

Fill the blueberry chocolate chip muffin batter in a cup liner or silicon mould.

Bake the muffins for 15 to 17 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into them comes out clean.

Blueberry chocolate chip muffins can be served as a delicious breakfast or snack. They pair well with a hot cup of coffee or a glass of milk. My favourite is a hot cup of coffee. For an extra special treat, you can also serve them with a dollop of whipped cream or a drizzle of melted chocolate on top. The muffins can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature, depending on your preference.

Variations of Blueberry Chocolate Chip Muffins

  • There are countless ways to customize these muffins to your liking. If you enjoy the taste of cinnamon, consider adding a sprinkle for a comforting and warm flavour.
  • Adding a handful of chopped nuts of your choice can also provide a satisfying crunch with every bite.
  • To make a healthier version, try substituting whole wheat flour, almond flour, or a mix of both in a 50:50 ratio.
  • If you don’t have caster sugar, you can substitute it with brown sugar or use a combination of both in equal proportions. Do keep in mind that the resulting flavour and color may differ slightly.
  • Additionally, you can experiment with incorporating other fresh berries, whether they are fresh or frozen.
  • In this particular recipe, I opted for semi-sweet dark chocolate chips, but you could easily swap them out for dark chocolate chunks or white chocolate to add a luxurious and decadent touch to your muffins.

How to store Blueberry Chocolate Chip Muffins?

Once finished baking, allow the muffins to cool completely. Afterwards, place them in an airtight container or zip-top bag to maintain their freshness and prevent them from becoming stale. If you want to prolong their shelf life, you can store them in the refrigerator for up to five days or freeze them for up to three months. It’s important to note that refrigeration may slightly alter the texture of the muffins. When you’re ready to enjoy them, simply reheat them in the microwave for a few seconds.
