Honestly ,I love baking cookies especially ,this easy peasy vanilla custard powder cookies. This cookie is light ,crisp and melt in mouth in texture. It hardly take 15 minutes for preparing cookie dough and that’s it ,bake and relish . And also no fancy gadgets or many bowls needed to make this recipe . Just a wide bowl , Ballon whisk and a fork is all needed for this fuss free cookies. I enjoy easy cookie recipes , and this is one of my favourites ! If you like cookies as much as I do, you’ll love this simple recipe too.

4 Ingredient Cookie

This recipe calls for only four ingredients and they are all purpose flour, custard powder, butter and sugar . This is a simple ,no messy , easy and needs only handful of ingredients from pantry or easily available in super markets . I buy custard powder to make fruit custards, caramel custard etc .But, often I land up baking this simple cookies for evening coffee or for my friends meet . Below I’ve given how to swap vanilla custard powder if it is not available at your place.

This melt in mouth Vanilla custard powder cookies are amazingly crispy in texture and rich in vanilla flavour. Vanilla custard powder is the main ingredient for colour and flavour and no extra colour or flavour is added to these cookies. I do love to match flavours ! You can check out my Vanilla and Chocolate Twin Custard Cookies recipe in my Bakes category .Combination of Two flavours vanilla and cocoa are match made in heaven .The best part in making Vanilla custard cookie is that ,you can mix match any favourite flavours according to your palate. As I was busy and ran out of munchies ,I baked this plain vanilla custard powder cookies as it is within few minutes and refilled my empty containers ???? .

How to bake Vanilla Custard Powder Cookies?

In a clean dry wide bowl ,cream butter until fluffy and keep aside . Powder granulated sugar in a blender and add to the sifted All purpose flour and custard powder . Add the flour sugar mixture to the beaten butter . Gently mix with a spatula until it forms to a soft ball consistency . Divide the cookie dough to even small round ball and place it on a baking tray. With the back of fork, gently make an impression on the cookie dough. Preheat oven to 180 C and bake for 15 minutes or until the base and edges turn golden brown . Delicious crispy vanilla custard powder cookie is all set to tuck in with a cup of coffee or munch as it is.

What is Vanilla Custard Powder made of?

Main ingredients of vanilla custard powder are cornflour/starch, salt ,colouring agent and natural flavouring agent.

Can we substitute Cornflour powder/ starch for Vanilla custard powder?

Yes, you can very well substitute plain cornflour powder or starch in place of ready made vanilla custard powder . But ,remember to add colour and flavour while mixing the cookie dough. You can add any colour and flavour according to your preference. The measurement of the ingredients remain same .

Powder granulated sugar as it helps to combine easily with butter .

You can use any custard powder available in your kitchen.

I made a simple fork impression pattern to design cookies. You can use cookie cutter or design as per your wish.

Try to maintain even size cookies . Uneven sized cookies leads to half bake or burn .

You can substitute cornflour/starch for custard powder . Do add colour gel or liquid and flavour to the cookie dough.

Finally , first batch of cookies take more time ( 15 minutes) to bake . Second and third batch takes only 12 to 13 minutes to bake. So have an eye while baking.

And also every oven behaves different, so adjust time and heat according to it.

No! custard powder is cornflour, so you can’t alternate with milk powder.
