Black grapes are one of my favourite fruit that I can eat in any form. I love making jam with all seasonal fruit. As black grape is in season, I make use of it making, my favourite jam. The jam taste sweet, a little tangy with the smooth, soft skin of the grapes. This jam is my family’s favourite.

This easy peasy jam needs only three ingredients as my other jam recipes. Yes, grapes, sugar, and lemon juice is all need for making this delectable spread. One can make jam with minimal ingredients available in the pantry and, no need to go for store-bought? Yes, store-bought is good with preservatives and stays for long. But, when you make jam with fresh produce without pectin or artificial preservatives, I feel satisfied with my Homemade jam. The taste is so yum and, I’m happy I provide good quality food for my family. I make use of all seasonal fruit in making jams, compote, and store for months.

How To Make Black Grape Jam?

Wash seedless black grape and wipe with a kitchen towel. Let it completely dry. Blend black grapes in an electric mixer or blender into a puree consistency. In a non-stick or heavy-bottomed pan, add the black grape puree and let it cook for five minutes. Add sugar and cook until the jam starts to swirl in the pan. The cooking process will take 20 minutes or few more minutes. To check the consistency, add a drop of jam in a plate of water. The jam drop should stay as it is. It should not dissolve in the water. Then cool it completely and store it in an air-tight container.

Lets see the step by step preparation of Black Grape Jam Recipe without Pectin.

Wash black grapes and pat dry on a kitchen towel.

Add the black grapes in an electric mixer and grind to puree consistency.

Add black grape puree in a non-stick pan or heavy bottomed pan on a medium heat . To it add sugar and stir until it dissolve completely.

Stir continuously and let the puree cook well. Stir regularly for 15 to 20 minutes to avoid jam burn to the bottom of the pan. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice to the mixture .It acts as a natural preservative for the black grape jam.

How to check the consistency of Homemade Black Grape Jam?

The jam has thickened and ready to check the consistency. To check, add a drop or two of jam mixture in a small plate of water. If the jam mixture stays as it is without dissolving, you achieved the perfect consistency. Remove from the stovetop and let it cool completely.

How to store Black Grape Jam?

Take a sterilized Jar, fill black grape jam up to the rim of the Glass Jar and turn it upside down and leave it for a few hours before storing it in a cool and dry place. Turning the filled Jam bottle upside down creates a vacuum and helps to preserve to increase shelf life. Black Grape jam will be good for months if it is unopened. Once opened, store it in the fridge. Use a clean, dry spoon for use.

I recieved an abundance of black grapes, like 6 lbs worth, we dont eat black grapes, so Im glad I stumbled on your recipe. I read jam and know what jam consistency is like but my brain insisted it be jelly. However, it turned out exactly like yours even though I cooked mine a lot longer than I needed to. Thanks!
