Simple one-pot chicken kurma a, lip-smacking main course pairs well with all flavored rice and bread.

Easy Chicken Kurma/curry is so easy in preparation and is one of the best to pair with all types of Flavoured rice, plain rice,Flat breads and South Indian breakfast like Idli ,Dosa,String Hoppers and many more. Though there are many types of preparation with chicken, almost every household makes kurma as an accompaniment for Flavoured rice, Rice or Rotis . Down south of India Kurma is prepared by adding ground Coconut paste or coconut milk as Stew. People of North add Cream, yogurt or cashew paste to it .

Easy Chicken Kurma/Easy Chicken Curry

When I was small ,My Amma used to add vegetables like Potato, Brinjal, Drumstick to Chicken Kurma and I seriously love to have it without any fuss. I followed my Amma,s style and initially had tough time to convince my husband and son and later they had no option and got used to eat without complaints . Pairing of Vegetables to Chicken varies according to the Palate and I have tried adding Pulses like chickpea( Garbanzo bean) to it and the taste was awesome.

Since it is an Easy Chicken kurma, all needed is a Pressure Cooker ( as I too was busy and wanted my cooking to get over as quick as possible) which make this kurma with in minutes. Basic kurma ingredients like onion, tomatoes, ginger garlic paste Home made Sambhar Powder, and coconut with fennel seeds are the ingredients used for this scrumptious South Indian style One pot Chicken Kurma.

Lets see how to prepare Chicken Kurma in step by step preparation

In a Pressure add oil on a medium heat and add ¼ teaspoon Fennel seeds and let it splutter. Now add chopped onions to it and saute until translucent.

Add ginger garlic paste to it and saute until raw smell disappear.

Add chopped tomatoes to it and add half the salt which helps tomatoes to cook fast and mushy. To the onion tomato mixture add slit green chillies and mix well.

Add cleaned chicken pieces, turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt to taste and mix well until chicken change its colour and half cooked.

Add ¾ cup of water and pressure cook only for 2 whistle on low flame for 4 mins.

Switch off the flame and wait until pressure settles down. Mean while in a mixie jar add coconut pieces and fennel seeds and grind to fine paste adding little water. Add coconut mixture to the chicken and and let it boil for few minutes. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or rotis.
