Homemade ginger garlic paste is a super easy recipe to make in few minutes. Ginger,garlic and salt is all needed for this recipe.

Homemade ginger garlic paste is something special and satisfy each home cook while cooking. Yes,the fresh aroma of the paste smells so good and amplifies the whole house. But,preparing time (peeling of garlic cloves ) for big batch is a mammoth task. Yes, it is time consuming but saves time when cooking . I peel garlic when ever I’m free and make sure to finish it in two days. Not much work in preparing ginger root . Wash thoroughly and peel the ginger root with a teaspoon. Yes,do not use knife or peeler ! Teaspoon is the best and it reaches ginger corner easily and removes skin perfectly.

Homemade Ginger Garlic Paste

When I was small my Amma use to make fresh ginger garlic paste when needed. Honestly,it was time consuming and Amma did not compromise to make and store it in fridge. But,now in this fast busy life ,I took a small safe diversion of making homemade ginger garlic paste and store it in fridge for a month or two .Now ,my Amma can understand the present busy life we are going through and she is happy that I’m not using store bought ready made ginger garlic paste.

How to make Homemade Ginger Garlic Paste?

Firstly, weigh equal quantity of ginger and garlic ( I used 130 gm of garlic cloves (peeled garlic) and 130 gm of ginger root(cleaned ) and 2 teaspoon of salt). Secondly ,peel garlic cloves neatly and wash and remove ginger root skin with a teaspoon. Thirdly, in a mixer grinder grind ginger and garlic together to a coarse paste. Add a teaspoon of water and grind further to fine paste . Finally, add salt to the ginger garlic paste and mix well. It’s done! Store it in an airtight glass jar or container and refrigerate for a month or two.

How to peel and clean garlic and ginger root?

An easy way of peeling garlic without hurting finger nails is by using knife to chop the clove top or slightly crush top with a pestle.

For ginger ,use a teaspoon to remove the skin . Teaspoon reaches even narrow corners and remove skin perfectly.

Get ready with all the ingredients before grinding the paste.

Add salt and mix well until it is well combined.

Store it in a clean dry glass jar or container and refrigerate . Use a dry spoon for using.

I use equal quantity of ginger and garlic.However ,if you wish to increase either ginger or garlic,go ahead with your taste.

When cooking ,do remember salt is in ginger garlic paste and reduce your salt in your dish.

Store in an airtight container or glass jar. However,it is use clean dry spoon while using.

Whenever it is needed take the required quantity of paste and replace again in fridge.
