Homemade ginger garlic paste is a super easy recipe to make within a few minutes. Ginger, garlic and salt is all needed for this recipe.

Homemade Ginger Garlic Paste

Homemade ginger garlic paste is something special and satisfy each home cook while cooking. Yes, the fresh aroma of the paste smells so good and amplifies the whole house.

Preparing time (peeling of garlic cloves ) for big batch is a mammoth task. Yes, it is time consuming but saves time when cooking.

I peel garlic when ever I’m free and make sure to finish it in two days. Not much work in preparing ginger root .

How to clean ginger root ?

Wash ginger thoroughly and peel the ginger skin with a teaspoon. Do not use knife or peeler! Teaspoon is the best tool and it reaches ginger corner easily and removes skin perfectly.

When I was small my Amma use to make fresh ginger garlic paste when needed. Honestly, it was time consuming and Amma did not compromise to make and store it in fridge.

But, now in this fast busy life, I took a small safe diversion of making homemade ginger garlic paste and store it in fridge for a month or two.

Now, my Amma can understand the present busy life we are going through and she is happy that I’m not using store bought ready made ginger garlic paste.

How to make Homemade Ginger Garlic Paste?

Firstly, weigh equal quantity of ginger and garlic ( I used 130 gm of garlic cloves (peeled garlic) and 130 gm of ginger root (cleaned ) and 2 teaspoon of salt).

Secondly, peel garlic cloves neatly without any skin. Wash the ginger root skin thoroughly and peel the skin with a teaspoon.

Thirdly, in a food processor grind ginger and garlic together to a coarse paste. Add a teaspoon of water and grind further to fine paste.

Finally, add salt to the ginger garlic paste and mix well. It’s done! Store it in an airtight glass jar or container and refrigerate for a month or two.

How to peel and clean garlic and ginger root?

An easy way of peeling garlic without hurting finger nails is by using knife to chop the clove top or slightly crush top with a pestle.

For ginger ,use a teaspoon to remove the skin . Teaspoon reaches even narrow corners and remove skin perfectly.

Step-by-step preparation of Homemade Ginger Garlic paste.

Get ready with all the ingredients before grinding the paste.

In a mixer grinder add ginger and garlic and grind to a fine a coarse paste.

Now add a teaspoon of water and grind to smooth fine paste.

Add salt and mix well until it is well combined.

Store it in a clean dry glass jar or container and refrigerate . Use a dry spoon for using.
