This easy chocolate ganache is easy to prepare with only three ingredients- chocolate, fresh cream, and butter! It is an easy and delectable dessert topping and loved by all.

Easy chocolate ganache is a simple recipe, and you can whip it in a few minutes. It needs only three ingredients like chocolate, fresh cream, and butter. It is a smooth mixture that you can frost for the cakes and between layers of the cake. And it also compliments well with any dessert according to individual palate.

Types of Chocolate Ganache

There are three types of chocolate ganache.

  • Pouring ganache
  • whipped ganache
  • piping ganache.

The three types of chocolate ganache need the same ingredients, but the proportion of cream and chocolate varies for which the ganache needs for the dessert. The recipe I’m sharing today is for the piping ganache. Though I didn’t pipe the cake, I used the ganache for spreading on the layers and frosted the chocolate cake.

Let’s talk about the ingredients

Chocolate– Chocolate plays a vital role in this recipe. The best quality chocolate gives taste and richness to the frosting. You can choose bittersweet, semisweet, or dark chocolate as you prefer. I like my frosting to be mildly sweet and avoid being overly sweet. Here, I have used dark chocolate, which I love the most. I prefer dark chocolate in baking and frosting the cake.

Fresh Cream– Fat in the cream is essential for the stable ganache. For this recipe, I have used Fresh cream with moderate fat. You can use whipping cream or heavy cream with high-fat content too.

Butter- Butter results in a smooth, glossy, and delicious chocolate ganache. It helps the frosting a fine emulsion effect to the cake.

Variations

1.Using different varieties of chocolate like semisweet chocolate, white chocolate, dark, etc is purely your choice.

2.In this recipe, I used low-fat cream ( 25% fat ). I use cream according to the availability in my pantry. Whipping cream or heavy cream with high-fat content is the best choice.

3.Adding flavouring to the chocolate ganache is purely optional. The options are extracts, spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or citrus zest.

How to make Easy chocolate ganache?

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, add fresh cream and a teaspoon of butter and bring it to a boil. Add the hot cream mixture to the dark chocolate chips and stir slowly. Let sit for 3 to 4 minutes or until the chocolate melts completely. Let the ganache cool completely before frosting the cake.

Let’s see how to make easy chocolate ganache with step-by step preparation.

In a wide bowl, add dark chocolate chips and keep them aside.

In a saucepan, add fresh cream on medium heat and bring it to a boil.

To the fresh cream, add a teaspoon of butter.

Stir well until the butter melts and mix well with the cream. Let the cream boil for a few seconds, or else the cream will curdle.

Pour the hot cream mixture on the chocolate and let it sit for two to three minutes or until the chocolate melts completely.

Do not stir the chocolate mixture vigorously as it creates air bubbles making the ganache grainy.

Smooth, glossy spreadable chocolate ganache is ready to layer any cakes. I layered a chocolate cake and spread the chocolate ganache with a palette knife. If you want to pipe rosettes or any decoration, wrap the bowl with cling film and allow it to cool on the kitchen counter or refrigerate for a few minutes. When it is perfectly cooled, pipe it as per your wish.

How to store chocolate ganache?

You can store chocolate ganache at room temperature for two days. Also, you can refrigerate the chocolate ganache for up to 3 months. If making a large batch for dessert toppings, freeze it in an air-tight container. It stays good for many months. Microwave ganache for a minute or two until desired consistency and top any dessert as you wish.
